Compétences Montréal welcomes two new collaborators. Fabien Cornu will replace Geneviève Talbot as Recognition of Acquired Competencies (RAC) Counsellor and Diane Bastien who will be responsible of the new Recognition of labour competencies mandate, in behalf of the Tripartite agreement reached with SERACIM and Emploi-Québec.
Fabien Cornu
"For me, the RAC is a tremendous career accelerator because when one gives another person the opportunity to reflect on their experience, they are given the chance to take control of their professional stream. RAC is also a potent integration tool for immigrants. By joining the team of Compétences Montréal, I will be able to continue to work with new comers, among other things, all the while profitably use the skills developed in the field of Recognition of Acquired Competencies. It's the best of both worlds!".
Diane Bastien
In another life, Diane Bastien worked for more than 15 years in communications as a screenwriter, professional writer and researcher. After going back to school to get a Master's Degree in professional guidance, she mainly exercised her profession with an adult clientele: job seekers wishing to go back to school, injured workers, immigrants, workers questioning their career choices...
"I have always been deeply convinced that a person must continue to train all their life. There are many way to do this: one can learn from a particularly inspired teacher, read tons of books, and collect diplomas... But one can also learn by observing someone more experienced, by doing the work over and over and over, by multiplying the trials and errors... It is the combination of all these learning experiences that make us competent persons. That is the reason why I firmly believe in the necessity of knowing all types of acquired competencies. It is the way of the future... And the reason why I joined the team of Compétences Montréal!".
